Student Internship Programme on Ex-Servicemen (Veteran) Affairs
Rajya Sainik Board West Bengal
1. Introduction
The Provincial Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen Board was established in 1944 at 28 Theatre Road, Calcutta. In 1951, it was renamed as the State Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen Board. Later in 1975, it was re-designated as the Rajya Sainik Board West Bengal (RSBWB).
The Board assists both the Government of West Bengal and the Government of India in coordinating efforts related to post-retirement documentation, welfare, and resettlement of Ex-Servicemen (ESM), as well as families of serving and deceased Armed Forces personnel in West Bengal.
It undertakes systematic studies to identify challenges faced by ESM, disabled veterans, widows (veer naris), and their families, and formulates effective solutions. The Board also promotes the use of science and technology to improve welfare and rehabilitation programs.
Additionally, the Board administers the Zila Sainik Boards (ZSBs) in accordance with rules prescribed by the Government of India and Government of West Bengal.
RSBWB has 14 ZSBs located in:
Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Malda, Dakshin Dinajpur, Murshidabad, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Burdwan, and Medinipur.

2. Period of Internship
The internship programme will be conducted from 18th May to 13th June.
3. Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for internship are as follows:
3.1 Students pursuing UG/PG/Ph.D. in the following subjects are eligible:
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Law
- Human Rights
- Information Technology & Computer Studies
- Defence Studies
- Management or Human Resource Studies
- Medical
4. Stipend & Certificate of Completion
Interns will receive an internship certificate and an honourarium, making it both meaningful and rewarding experience.
